Jane Shey was raised on a family farm in Northwest Iowa and is a graduate of Briar Cliff University with a B.A. in history and theology.
Shey has worked for two Members of Congress on agriculture policy and served as the Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Foreign Agriculture and Hunger for the House Committee on Agriculture, U.S. House of Representatives. She also ran for the U.S. House of Representatives from Iowa and after her stint as a congressional staffer, started a lobbying practice representing various agricultural interests and has been an agriculture consultant for 20 years.
Her international work has been in Europe and Africa with a focus on trade and development policy. Shey currently is a consultant to the World Food Program USA.
Her MA is in European Studies from the Catholic University of Leuven in Leuven, Belgium.
