Luisa Ramirez Huertas has a plan, a very detailed one.
Ask the accounting, business administration and international business major what she will be doing in 10 years and Luisa will tell you. The CPA exam and law school are just two of the stops along the career pathway for this Briar Cliff student.
Luisa’s ambition comes from a strong desire to push herself to become a better individual, something she learned from her grandmother.
“My grandmother is very ambitious; she ran for a senator position representing her district back home in Puerto Rico,” says Luisa. “She is the most influential person in my life because she is the embodiment of female empowerment. My grandmother fights against the odds for the betterment of others, something I seek to emulate.”
A recent trip to Honduras fueled Luisa’s passion for helping others she says.
“Going to Comayagua, Honduras, was one of the best experiences of my life. To truly help another person is a remarkable feeling that I would encourage others to experience,” Luisa adds. “I am continually pushing myself to become a better individual. The opportunities I have received at BCU have been a true blessing. I am very grateful.”
