Home Away from Home
Nicole Hemelberg always wanted to come to the United States for college, an opportunity to play golf for Briar Cliff made her dream a reality.
During her time on The Cliff Nicole has lead the women’s golf team to win their first conference championship. The first place title not only marked the first ever GPAC Championship for women’s golf, but was also the first title for any women’s team in Briar Cliff history.
In addition to her coursework and golf practices, Nicole is the treasurer of the psychology club and an academic peer mentor who helps her fellow Chargers achieve academic success. She believes getting involved is the best way to find new opportunities to learn and grow.
After graduating, Nicole plans to pursue her master’s in the United States before returning to Colombia to start her career as a psychiatrist. Even though it isn’t easy being so far from home, Nicole knows that it’s worth it. “Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.”
