Overcoming adversity isn't anything new for Brianna Hunter. As a female shot putter, she's well aware of the stereotypes that come with the sport.
"At the end of the day, you need to focus on yourself. I have chosen to focus on what I love to do," says Brianna, who grew up in a military and has traveled the world, spending many of her childhood years in Japan. "My dream is to work hard and make it to the 2024 or 2028 Olympics."
While is may seem like a lofty goal for some, Brianna is well on her way. Her success as a high school record-breaker and state qualifier in shot put led to a track scholarship at Briar Cliff.
When she isn't at track practice, Brianna is in the classroom working towards her education degree.
"I trust that God will guide me toward a positive and successful career. I am not perfect, but I am proud of my accomplishments and decisions that have led me to be the person I am today."
